NK Bolsters Philadelphia, New York Leadership with Senior Promotions

To better serve clients and support the expanding Philadelphia and New York studios, NK Architects is proud to announce the promotion of Andrew Lewis, AIA, to principal and Nicholas Czarniecki to associate principal.

Dedicated to interdisciplinary practice, Andrew is pioneering the firm’s operations in Philadelphia, where he manages projects at the intersections of higher education, medical education, healthcare, workplace, and research and simulation for clients throughout Eastern PA and New Jersey — many of which have entrusted him with multi-year, multi-project relationships.

Said Steve Aluotto, NK Architects’ president and CEO, “Andrew’s relationships with his clients have transcended being an architect to become that of an advisor: his clients not only have ultimate confidence in him as an architect, but also ask his advice beyond the technical aspects of architecture. This is evidenced with every one of Andrew’s clients, from Kean University, where he worked on three award-winning projects simultaneously, to Mercy College, to his assignment as managing principal of the Philadelphia office, working with Penn Medicine and rapidly growing the opportunities there. He is active in all three states — Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey — which is a feat unto itself.

“Moreover,” Steve continued, “Andrew has leveraged and embraced our virtual operations, not only enabling us to continue functioning, but also leveraging our communications into a platform that makes us more efficient and collaborative. I’m excited and energized by the advances we continue to make, under Andrew’s leadership, to bring us together and advance the culture of our firm.”

An expert in New York zoning regulations and building codes, Nick leads healthcare and research projects and also has experience in high-end commercial and supertall residential buildings.

“Nick has developed from a project architect into an excellent manager with well-rounded skills,” said Paul Drago, principal and head of NK Architects’ New York office, “He has become a steady ‘Number Two’ in New York, helping to develop staff and the practice, and excelling at handling challenging projects and delivering great outcomes for clients and users at places like Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

“Doing the work successfully and profitably — and getting repeat business — is not easy,” Paul continued: “it requires a rigorous approach to process and people management, both internal and external. As an associate principal, Nick is on a solid path to future leadership of NK Architects, both in New York and firm-wide.”
